Einar Olav

Einar Olav Larsen (b. 1979) is the fiddler from Verdal, nearby Trondheim. He comes from a family with a strong folk music tradition and has together with his brother, Gjermund (b. 1981), won “Landskappleiken”, the norwegian competition in folk music in the past three years.

He has studied folk music at the Ole Bull Academy for two years, and has just finished a two-year study on scholarship. Now he is working as a musician in Verdal.

Besides playing the ordinary violin, he uses the Hardanger fiddle, the national instrument of Norway. Einar Olav is one of few who compete at Landskappleiken in the category of both instruments with success.
